Activity set-up
Purpose
To practise reading workplace behaviour more accurately, identifying what support might be needed, and deciding what a manager should do next.
How it works
You will work through one scenario as a group. Your task is not to diagnose the person. Your task is to understand what may be happening, reduce assumptions, and agree a practical manager response.
20-minute structure
- 2 minsRead the scenario
- 6 minsDiscuss what could be misread and what may be happening underneath
- 6 minsAgree the first manager response and support options
- 4 minsDecide what should be documented, reviewed or escalated
- 2 minsPrepare one takeaway to share back
For your scenario, agree
What could be misread?
What might be happening underneath?
What should the manager say or do first?
What practical support option could be trialled?
What should be documented, reviewed or escalated?
What should be checked after 2 to 4 weeks?
